FAQ’s
Q – My child is struggling in school. Can you help him?
A- We offer consultative services, observations, screenings, evaluations, training, and resources to parents who would like assistance in finding root causes of their child’s social, emotional, behavior, or academic problems.
Q – What kinds of testing do you do?
A – We test in the areas of language, academics, behavior, and cognition. We will help you determine what your child’s strengths and weaknesses are and what kinds of strategies and interventions are needed to help them learn. A comprehensive report is provided so that you fully understand the testing that was conducted and the recommendations for your child.
Q – I don’t want my child to miss school, but I do want him tested. How does that work?
A – We have appointments to fit your schedule. We offer BOTH evening and weekend appointments as well as those offered during the day. Feedback appointments and consultations are also scheduled on a flexible basis.
Q – What will I need to bring to the first appointment?
A – We ask that you complete and review our paperwork found on the website. That will expedite your appointment. Also, if you have any progress notes, report cards, teacher comments, work samples, or other medical or evaluative data you would like us to consider in order to prepare a comprehensive assessment plan. You may also want to send your child with a snack the day of testing.
Q – Do you take insurance?
A – Sometimes insurance may pay for part of a behavior, language, counseling, or psycho-educational evaluation. Although we are not currently set up to take insurance, we will be happy to provide documentation and diagnostic or evaluation codes that you may use to seek reimbursement.
Q – I don’t think my child’s IEP is appropriate. Can you help with that?
A – We are happy to either arrange a consultation or attend ARD meetings with you. We can help you review IEPs, work with the school, and explain to you what to expect at your IEP meeting, and we help your voice to be heard, and your ideas to count. We know the law, we know assessments, we know your rights, and we know how the system should work together. We are a great alternative to lawyers and sometimes more well received by school districts.
Q – Do you ever conduct trainings and workshops?
A – Yes, all the time! Check our calendar of events for more information or call or e-mail to set us up to speak to your group today!
If your question isn’t listed, call or e-mail us and we’ll be happy to help you.
